2026-01-01 turning into the bin lane, two magpies, joy for 2026? Helensburgh shore at sunset. A few small waders zigging around along with the usual gulls, crows and oystercatchers. Not enough light to identify them. 
2026-01-02 Greenside, frosty, lots of quiet robins. A jay long undulating flight across the Loch Humphrey burn 'valley'. 
2026-01-03 On the way to Jaw, a relaxed flock of greylag geese in a dip in one of the fields.
2026-01-04 On Duncolm a raven circled diving & twisting with quiet croaks. Seemed unfazed by me and came quite close, shining in the sun.
2026-01-05 commuting home, Kirkintilloch brownfield, roe in the frozen grass
2026-01-06 2 grey squirrels running about the magnolia bush across the bin lane.  I wonder why this bush is interesting for them. 
2026-01-07 The park pond frozen with a circle of open water covered & surrounded by birds. The coots as quarrelsome as always.
